Pricing
The same rates apply across Melbourne with no zone surcharges. A man and a truck costs just $120 an hour, with a two-hour minimum. For most Melbourne moves, two or three professional movers and bigger trucks make things easier. And if you'd rather not watch the clock at all, we'll quote you a fixed price instead.

How we work
Cleaning up the old place is much harder with trolley marks and scratches, so we start each job by covering doorways and floors. Then, every large item is carefully wrapped in moving blankets to keep them safe. Blankets, trolleys and straps come with every job, at no extra charge.
Our 4.5 and 5 tonne trucks are equipped with a 600kg tailgate lifter, while our 6 tonne and larger trucks have a 1,200kg ramp, so heavy and awkward pieces are lifted in properly, not wrestled.
Our focus is on care over speed. We pack your belongings in tightly to keep them safe against movement and damage on the trip.

The process

We confirm your booking, your truck size and your crew, and tell you how to prepare for move day.
When we arrive, we’ll wrap your bigger items and load your belongings onto the truck, packing them in safe and tight.
We’ll leave your items in your new home in the rooms they belong, ready for unpacking, and reassemble items like beds for you.

No. Our Truganina and inner city depots mean we’re rarely far from wherever you’re moving so there are no additional fees or charges for moves across the western suburbs.
A standard, 30-minute travel charge applies to all jobs across the whole of Melbourne. Sundays and public holidays also attract a surcharge that we will confirm with you at the time of booking.
The same as anywhere else in Melbourne – there’s no zone surcharge for the west.
Moves are typically charged by the hour, and how long they take depends on the number of items needing to be moved and building access at each end (distance to truck, stairs and lift). The hourly rate is determined by the truck size and the number of professional movers needed to complete your relocation.

Usually, yes. It depends on the day and the size of the move. Weekends and the end of the month book out first, so a mid-week date at short notice is usually easier than a Saturday.

Yes. We have a depot on Forsyth Road in Truganina, and a second one in the inner city. Between the two sites, we cover the whole metropolitan area.
Yes. Host Movers holds Goods in Transit (GIT) and Public Liability insurance. Our $10M public liability insurance and our goods in transit insurance cover property damage and loss or damage to your belongings during the move. However, damage caused by poor packing or incorrect labelling is generally not covered. If you’re packing yourself, make sure all items are securely packed and appropriately labelled to keep them safe and reduce loss.
If you require further protection for high value items, please contact us to arrange additional insurance coverage.
We take every precaution to avoid damage to both your property and belongings, but the insurance is good additional protection in case something goes wrong on the day.
Some moving companies use subcontractors or third-party workers, which can lead to inconsistent service. At Host Movers, you’ll only ever work with experienced professionals who have been trained to meet our high standards.
